Based in the inner northern city suburbs of Northcote and Thornbury, our projects range across metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and Tasmania.

Our team of motivated and experienced architects and interior designers are focused on delivering a high level of service to our clients while maintaining a strong sense of community and environmental responsibility within every project. Regardless of building size and type, we are committed to treating each project with care and attention to ensure the best possible outcomes for homeowners, developers and community groups.

From project conception, masterplanning, sketch design, contract documentation through to project procurement, we offer a full range of architectural, urban design and interior design solutions to our clients. Fundamental to our process is the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM), drawing from 20 years of experience in using 3D computer modeling tools in the design and documentation process of buildings. This enables GKA architects to work efficiently on a wide range of different project sizes while maintaining a studio style practice.

Our approach from the outset involves a rigorous analysis of the project brief and the opportunities presented by the site. From that initial analysis, design solutions are formulated that provide built form and spatial solutions that are specific for each project.

Our goal is to create “home living places” that can support changing requirements throughout the life of the building and that instills a strong sense of identity for each family.

Our project architects and interior designers work closely with families and individuals to develop the project brief and turn the wishes of our clients into a built reality. Our approach includes keeping clients continually informed about the process of the project while prioritising budget and program control.

In partnership with other building professionals such as project managers, town planners, engineers, building surveyors and cost consultants, we endeavor to develop building solutions to meet the expectations of the marketplace while maintaining a fundamental sensitivity to urban integration and the preservation of amenity in the immediate surrounds. Our inclusive process of developing design responses that are derived from our analysis, helps to provide buildings that “fit” respectfully into the surrounding context. Throughout the project design and documentation stages we remain committed to providing environmentally sustainable architecture that also supports the cultural and social issues of our evolving community. We recognise that a building may be commercial in instigation but fundamentally we are responsible for providing a built urban fabric that needs to support an integrated community into the future.
